National Apprenticeship Week - A Parents Perspective

7th Feb 2022 Back

National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) is a Government-supported awareness event aiming to celebrate and promote the exceptional work being done by employers and apprentices across the country. For 2022, NAW takes place between Monday 7th to Friday 11th February. The Network for East Anglian Collaborative Outreach, also known as neaco, are hosting a week of live online talks, discussions, and drop-in advice sessions for young people. As a parent or carer, you’re an important part of your young person’s journey, so neaco aim to offer impartial and relevant support and guidance for parents and carers too. Here’s a few ways you can join in with their NAW 2022 programme:

1) Follow the hashtag, #TakeYourPlaceNAW22 across all neaco social media platforms. @TakeYourPlaceHE will be posting regular hints, tips, and insight specifically for parents and carers.

2) Watch neaco’s NAW guide for parents and carers on YouTube to understand the basics and start exploring the world of Higher and Degree Apprenticeships: NAW2021 A guide for parents and carers - YouTube

3) Attend this FREE online event for parents and carers to help you understand why apprenticeships could be a great pathway for your young person. Monday 7th February, 6pm: A Parent’s Perspective, talk and Q&A Parent & Carer Ambassador Sharn will share her fascinating insight into supporting her daughter into a Degree Apprenticeship. The live discussion will cover applications, offers, decisions and the transition into higher education, followed by a Q&A where you can ask any questions you have!
