Meet the student on a drive to promote golf

4th Jun 2019 Back

A keen golfer from Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form is calling for fellow students to pitch in and get involved with the sport.

Year 12 student Hope Neild competes regularly at county and regional level and was recently selected as Junior County Captain for Norfolk as well as Junior Captain at her club, Royal Norwich.

She’s enjoyed a string of successes on the green, including lifting the Cozens-Hardy and Three Cups trophies at Royal Norwich, team wins with Norfolk at the South East Schools’ Competition and Norfolk Ladies’ Championships, and finishing second in the girls’ category at the Norfolk Schools Golf Championships.

Away from the course Hope volunteers as an England Golf Ambassador, looking at ways to get more people playing, and promoting the benefits of sport to mental health and wellbeing.

Now she hopes budding golfers at Sir Isaac Newton will help her put together a sixth form squad.

Hope says: “To take part in school team competitions you need at least two players from the same school or college.

“So if there are any budding golfers out there, please let me know and maybe we can enter a Sir Isaac Newton team next year!”
