Resources for Students, Parents and Caregivers

Introducing our Dedicated Careers Newsletter, Future Focus!

Future Focus is our dedicated newsletter designed to support careers development and explore exciting opportunities. It offers students valuable guidance as they navigate decisions about their next steps. Each issue features advice from alumni, sharing their expertise on topics like personal statement writing, application tips, and much more. We also highlight work experience opportunities and provide useful resources for parents and caregivers. Future Focus is sent to students and parents in rotation with our main newsletter, Gravity Matters. Be sure to check your inbox each half-term for the latest issue!

UCAS Information Evening

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent UCAS Parent/Carer Information Evening. We understand that not everyone was able to attend, but don’t worry, we’ve made the full presentation available below for you to view at your convenience.

The session covered key information about the UCAS process, including timelines, how to support your young person with their applications, and useful resources to help guide you both through this important stage.

If you have any questions after viewing the presentation, or if you’d like to speak to someone directly, our Careers Team is here to help. Whether you’re looking for clarification, advice, or just someone to talk through the next steps with, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Work Experience

Gaining work experience is an excellent way to explore different career options without committing to a degree, apprenticeship, or full-time employment. At Sir Isaac, we strongly encourage students to take advantage of the many local opportunities available. Participating in work experience allows you to gain first-hand insight into various industries, helping you make more informed decisions about your future. Beyond career exploration, work experience can significantly enhance your personal statement. It provides a strong foundation, giving you concrete examples to demonstrate your skills and understanding of a particular field. By highlighting these experiences, you can set yourself apart from other candidates and show universities or employers that you have gone beyond the classroom to develop practical knowledge and skills. In short, work experience can not only boost your confidence but also helps you build a network of valuable contacts, gain a deeper understanding of specific industries, and discover what truly inspires you.
