Maths Week 2025

Following on from our very successful previous programme of events, Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form Outreach delivered their fourth year of activities in collaboration with Maths Week England 2025.

This year we returned to the surface from the depths of the sea and took on a new theme – Safari – with an event that provided enriching mathematical opportunities designed for Key Stage 2 students across Norfolk.

“Safari Add-venture"

During the day, the team celebrated Maths Week with an array of activities around the Safari theme, aimed to pique interest in maths and root problems in fun but challenging scenarios.

The event was delivered by our excellent teaching team, alongside A-Level maths students from Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form who supported pupils’ engagement during the activities.

Activities included working in pairs to create safari animals using mathematical shapes, a fast-paced equation challenge searching for the value of safari animals, and a game inspired by Snakes & Ladders where teams aimed to be the first to cross the finish line.

Alongside their tasks, pupils were also searching for a hidden letter in each room as they completed the activities. Gathering all the letters culminated in a safari themed anagram to solve at the end of the day, before going home with a goodie bag.

Pupil feedback was positive with many saying they enjoyed using teamwork to help solve the puzzles, and that they found maths more fun than they imagined. One teacher said, ‘my students were loving the whole day. It was great to chat with them over lunch - they were still talking about some of the activities and how they couldn't believe it was maths.’
