We’re really pleased to present these online transition sessions to support you in preparation for A level study. These sessions will be taught live and online by A level teachers from across Sir Isaac and Jane Austen. They will commence on 15 June for a period of four weeks and consist of a series of two one-hour sessions per week for most of our subjects.

Sessions will be delivered over Google Meet, be interactive and you will need a desk, pen and paper to take part. You can attend as many or as few subjects as you wish to and you are not required to attend every session for each subject. For example, if you feel happy with a particular topic then you are welcome to miss that session and just attend those that you wish to.

Topics covered in each of the Sir Isaac sessions will be as below.  For information on the Jane Austen sessions see here (link to Jane Austen page).

Biology

Biology

Biology is the study of life. It draws upon your understanding of chemistry and physics and even has a sprinkling of maths! During your studies, you will answer questions like; What is life? How do we protect it? How do organisms survive? How are organisms related and how did they evolve? And guess what? Everything you have learnt at GCSE is going to be really useful as you build your A level knowledge. These biology transition sessions will help you build on your knowledge and fill any gaps so that you will be a brilliant biologist when you join us at Sir Isaac in September.
