Topics covered in each of the maths and science sessions will be as below.  All other subject information is on the Jane Austen College website here.

Biology

Biology

Biology is the study of life. It draws upon your understanding of chemistry and physics and even has a sprinkling of maths! During your studies, you will answer questions like; What is life? How do we protect it? How do organisms survive? How are organisms related and how did they evolve? And guess what? Everything you have learnt at GCSE is going to be really useful as you build your A level knowledge. These biology transition sessions will help you build on your knowledge and fill any gaps so that you will be a brilliant biologist when you join us at Sir Isaac in September.

Physics

Physics

Physics is an exciting subject that gives the learner a sneak peak at the truth of the universe. The study of A level physics builds upon the grounding offered at GCSE. Physicists across the world apply their problem solving skills to build solutions and enrich our lives daily in many areas ranging from atomic physics to engineering and astrophysics. Our sessions will focus on key principles that will form the foundation of your A level studies and ensure a smooth transition from GCSE to A level study.
