The Inspiration Trust has been ranked the top sixth form group in East Anglia and joint second in the country.

The Trust is one of only three nationally to be ranked as performing above average for student progress in the Department for Education rankings of fifty schools groups.

The results cover the Inspiration Trust's four sixth forms at Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form, Jane Austen College, and The Hewett Academy in Norwich, and Thetford Academy.

Overall student progress at the Trust's sixth forms was ranked as +0.12, equal with Aldridge Education, based in London, and just 0.01 behind the top placed Diocese of London academy trust.

Chief executive Dame Rachel de Souza said: "This is the first time the Department for Education has released performance data for academy trusts at sixth form level, and it is fantastic to have our Norfolk schools leading the country.

"The Trust has twice been ranked the top comprehensive schools group for progress to GCSE, and to add such great success at sixth form is a great accolade for our students and staff."

More than half the groups ranked in the study had progress below national average, with scores as low as -0.6.

Academy groups are included in the table where they have at least three sixth forms that have been in the trust for three years or more.
