'Excellent' schools key to city's top ranking
Two Inspiration Trust schools have been cited as among the reasons for Norwich being named one of the top 12 cities to live in the UK.
The Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide for 2018 lists Norwich as a premium location, and picked out Hethersett Academy and Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form for special mention as "excellent" state schools.
Hethersett is the top school in Norfolk on all the main GCSE measures, including Progress 8, Attainment 8, 5+ English and Maths, and EBacc attainment. It is rated Outstanding by Ofsted.
Sir Isaac was the UK's first maths and science specialist sixth form, and has consistently achieved some of the best A Level results in the region. It was ranked above fee-paying schools like Eton and Harrow in a Government-backed survey of science, technology, engineering and maths teaching, and was graded Outstanding by Ofsted earlier this year.
As well as complimenting the Trust's schools, the Sunday Times said: "This compact city honours its pre-industrial glory days while embracing arty, urban cool.
"England’s first Unesco City of Literature in 2012, this is a publishing powerhouse, with three literary festivals and the National Centre for Writing due to open this summer.
"The city’s economy is among the fastest-growing in the UK, and the Norwich Research Park is a centre for health, food-security and climate-change research."
